Period Double Space.

For about a century, you put two spaces after a period. Then, more or less overnight, the rule became one. Writing did not get better. It did not get worse. It turns out those spaces never had a single thing to do with good writing.

That's the whole point. The "rules" of writing (where the spaces go, where the commas land, the words you're forbidden to end a sentence on) are mostly made up, and following them has never once made a book funnier, truer, or harder to put down.

So we happily ignore them. We publish the other kind of book: unconventional, laugh-out-loud, gloriously rule-optional true stories by writers brave enough to sound exactly like themselves.
